His search was \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003ein vain, for none was like the wife he had lost. The king saw that \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eDymphna was as beautiful as her mother had been, and evil advisors \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003esuggested that he marry his own daughter. In his madness, he made \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eadvances to Dymphna and demanded that she be his wife. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eDymphna fled the court with her confessor, Fr. Gerebernus, and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003esome servants. The group found refuge in Geel, Belgium. Her father was \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eable to track them down and ordered his soldiers to kill Fr. Gerebernus.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eHe ordered Dymphna to return home with him, and when she refused, \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003ehe pulled his own sword and struck off her head. She was 15 years old. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eHowever, God can bring good out of every evil. The resident of \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eGeel bury the two saints in a nearby cave. After Dymphna's terrible \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003emurder, those suffering from mental or emotional illness would come to \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003ethe site of her death and receive miraculous healing. In 1349, a church \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003ehonoring St. Dymphna was built on the spot. The church burned down \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003ein the late 15th century but was rebuilt in consecrated in 1532.
